Don’t overthink it. Don’t overthink your job. Don’t overthink your art. Don’t overthink your words. Adding too much stuff to your brain causes it to overheat. Worrying about things that don’t matter will make you suffer from problems that don’t even exist. Analyzing a thousand possible futures will prevent you from taking the first steps into something fun. Being too considerate of strangers will lead you to being offended on their behalf, even if they aren’t offended at all. Who’s happier- someone who does and says whatever they want on a whim, or someone who overthinks everything to an unhealthy, obsessive degree? Don’t overthink your answer.

People like to think that because of our humongous brains, humans are somehow above nature. We’re not. We’re still a part of nature, another species in the ecosystem, another ripple in the tide. Nature favors quick decisions and small, isolated systems. Overthinking is trying to predict the future or consequences outside of your domain. Nature doesn’t like that sort of thing, which is why nature makes you a nervous wreck. Stop doing that.

You may be tempted to wonder if I’m getting at anything specific in this passage. Don’t overthink it.

This issue of Spud Underground is the first one to feature every single Spud writer! I show you my new favorite Instagram thot and guide you through your nastiest hangovers. Cade went to a couple shows and tried meth. Chad tells of his shamanic origins in Peru. Alex offers insight into festival recovery. So put some seatbelts on your eyes because this magazine is going to take them for a wild ride!

This month, we’re sponsored by… nobody. This issue is fueled by the hopes and dreams of children. If YOU, dear reader, want to help support the Spud cause, there are a couple ways to do so. #1: buy merch from SpudMedia.net. We’ve got the new Fuck Spud shirt, comic books, and old Spud issues over there. #2: sign up for Patreon for a little as $1/month. Thanks to all of our Patreon supporters listed below. You could be one of them if you weren’t such a cheapass.

Stay Dangerous, My Friends,
