Balks are a Boise trio with an emphasis on melodic songwriting and the stripped-down production of classic punk. Their new LP Bad Manners drops on March 10, self-released and punctiliously produced at Chop Shop Recordings. Bad Manners throws down 10 quick tracks covering topics like mental health and positive habits and other such motivational messages that I never get tired of hearing. Nick has a great voice which gives these songs a somber yet hopeful tone. Oxinfree and Hellapath were my favorite tracks. You can see Balks live at Tom Grainey’s on March 10th (21+ no cover, 7pm) for the official album release.
