These Boise bands absolutely knocked it out of the park. Check out these albums or be forever labeled a moron.
5. Melodic Noise by Mutt

Mutt may not be rock n’ roll, but rules shmules, I loved this album. All those beeps and whizzes blend together into a beautiful instrumental soundscape that anybody can appreciate. It’s great as background noise or as easy listening for the more attentive enjoyer.
4. Tailored by Faceless

If you’re sick of the insufferable slurry of “uh, uh, yo main bish on muh dick” that is modern rap, check out Tailored. Tailored offers beautifully produced beats under raw, poetic lyrics. These songs are short and right to the point. This EP reminds me of what hip-hop used to be about without sounding old.
3. Give Girls Money by Plum Vision

This is a quick EP. The sound is stunning and each song is structured in an unpredictable way. The lyrics are clever and shift from silly to sardonic to solemn. Each song grooves so well that I almost wish they were longer. Sometimes the best things in life end too soon.
2. Drowned In Sun by Mandias

Drowned in Sun is garagey and grungy with powerful driving riffs and rhythm. Frontwoman Maddie Musheno spews charisma like a broken sprinkler while singing those thought-provoking lyrics. After I saw their New Years Eve set, it’s safe to say they’re my favorite live act in Boise. I’m absolutely giddy with anticipation for more recorded work.
1. Kill the Crackle by Moon Owl’s Mages

If I had to choose just one Boise band that deserves international attention, money, fame, and babes, I would choose Moon Owl’s Mages. They are the most original and innovative band in town; brilliant at pushing limits while remaining hard and rockin’. Their sophomore album Kill The Crackle is so good that everyone else should be ashamed of themselves.
