Reach into a grab bag of prog, hardcore, emo and hard rock, you’ll pull out A Residual Affinity. Their newest EP It’s a Secret to Everybody came out on June 17th. The band’s originality never ceases to amaze, and this is their best work yet.
Every member of the five-piece oozes talent and brought something special to the album. Not a second of this 22-minute listen is phoned-in or half-assed. Aggressive drums. Odd time signatures. Invigorating riffs. Emotional lyrics. It’s so good that it’s not something you can put on as background noise while you work. You’ll keep getting sucked into it and losing track of what you were doing.
It’s a Secret to Everybody was two years in the making, roadblock after roadblock, but ARA never quit on it or sacrificed the quality. Their dedication is admirable, and has paid off in full. Make sure you check out this new EP wherever you stream your music. And then go watch A Residual Affinity live, they’ll be on the road with Raccoon Tour this summer and they always put on a great show.
