I met a guy at the bar. He described himself as an anarchist, so we hit it off and had a long chat about art and stuff. He invited me to attend a rally that had been organized in favor of the release of political prisoners- that’s great! But then he said, “Bring your mask and a weapon so we can show these fuckers that they aren’t welcome here.”
So wait, this anarchist is pro political prisoner?
Clearly, there’s a bit of confusion about what anarchy means around here. An means “without”. Archy means “rule.” In other words, a social system in which there is no ruler. An anarchist is someone who rejects the rule of law, not someone who supports the rule of law and it’s imprisonment of political dissidents.
